The Education Guide for HA4 & HA5

Distance Trends

Three years of Reception allocation data for HA4 & HA5 primary schools — is each school's catchment getting tighter, looser, or staying put.

HA4HA5
How to read this page. Every school below has a published furthest distance offered for Reception — the distance from home to school of the last child let in under the distance criterion, each year the council publishes it. A shrinking distance means the school is getting harder to get into from further away; a growing distance means it's easing. Some schools filled every place through siblings, faith, or other priority criteria before distance was ever used as a tie-breaker — for those years we show that instead of a distance figure. Harrow measures in miles; Hillingdon measures in metres. We've kept each borough in its own units rather than converting, since a conversion error is exactly the kind of thing that misleads a parent checking their own address.

Harrow-administered schools — HA5, Pinner & Hatch End

Distances in miles, from Harrow Council's own "How places were allocated" letters, 2024–2026.

Cannon Lane Primary School

2025315903.5×1.071 mi
2026396904.4×0.851 mi

Applications climbing and the radius shrinking every single year — the clearest, most consistent tightening trend of any school on this list.

Pinner Wood School

2024338903.8×0.867 mi
2025356904.0×0.724 mi
2026397904.4×0.778 mi

Demand rising every year, but the radius isn't moving in a straight line — 2025 was its tightest year, 2026 eased off slightly. Still meaningfully tighter than 2024.

West Lodge Primary School

Steady

2024349903.9×0.642 mi
2025341903.8×0.755 mi
2026354903.9×0.663 mi

Bouncing in a narrow band (0.64–0.76 miles) with no clear direction across three years — the most predictable school on this list.

Grimsdyke School

Less competitive

2024285903.2×1.056 mi
2025298903.3×1.311 mi
2026283903.1×1.498 mi

Radius has widened every year despite roughly flat demand — a genuine three-year trend, not a one-off wobble.

Pinner Park Primary School

20253571203.0×0.858 mi
20263241202.7×filled without distance

Demand falling three years running; by 2026 distance wasn't even the deciding factor — non-distance priorities (siblings, etc.) filled every place.

St John Fisher Catholic Primary School

More competitive
YearFurthest offered
2024/252.10 mi
2025/262.00 mi

A Voluntary Aided school — Harrow's council allocation letters don't cover it, but the school publishes its own furthest-offer-distance figures directly. Only two years are available (the page doesn't go back further, or at least not within what we could retrieve), so this is a slighter trend than the three-year picture used elsewhere on this page: the radius narrowed by a tenth of a mile between 2024/25 and 2025/26. Worth revisiting once a 2026/27 figure is published, to see if it's a real direction or just noise.

Hillingdon-administered schools — HA4/HA5, Ruislip & Eastcote

Distances in metres, from Hillingdon Council's own Reception allocation data, 2024–2026. Where a school filled every place through non-distance criteria, we show spaces remaining on National Offer Day instead.

Lady Bankes Primary School

Much more competitive

2024906129 spaces unfilled—
20259090Full992.7 m
20269090Full~3,134 m*

Went from 29 spare places to completely full in one year, and its radius roughly tripled the year after that. Worth flagging clearly given this is an Outstanding-rated school families increasingly can't assume they'll get into.

Coteford Infant School

20246060Full5,363.5 m
2025604713 spaces unfilled—
2026603327 spaces unfilled—

Was a real stretch to get into in 2024 — was reaching over 5km — and has opened up fast since. Now has genuine slack.

Deanesfield Primary School

Steady, always full

20249090Full1,114.0 m
20259090Full1,600.0 m
20269090Full1,505 m

Full every year, with its radius holding in a fairly stable 1.1–1.6km band — reliably competitive but not trending in either direction.

Bourne Primary School

Unpredictable

20243030Full974.3 m*
20253030Full1,653.9 m
20263030Full~704 m*

A small school (30 places) that's full every year, but the radius swings a lot year to year — likely just the effect of a small intake, not a real trend either way.

*2024 & 2026 figures — see data-quality note below

Newnham Infant & Nursery School

Much more competitive

20259090Full987.1 m
20269090Full1,670 m

Full all three years, but 2024 was a struggle to get there — the school had to reach nearly 6km to fill its last places. By 2025 it was filling from under a kilometre out. One of the sharpest tightening trends on this page: from barely scraping together enough applicants to comfortably oversubscribed in a single year.

Whiteheath Infant & Nursery School

YearPANOn-time offersStatusFurthest offered
2024907020 spaces unfilled—
202590855 spaces unfilled—

No stable direction across three years — nearly full one year, half-empty the next. Don't present this as trending either way.

Field End Infant School

YearPANOn-time offersStatusFurthest offered
2024907910 spaces unfilled—
2025906920 spaces unfilled—

Steadily more spaces unfilled each year — never been full in this data, and the gap keeps growing.

Ruislip Gardens Primary School

2024602535 spaces unfilled—
2025603624 spaces unfilled—

Consistently well undersubscribed across all three years — a genuinely reliable backup preference for a Ruislip application.

Full on faith criteria alone in 2024 and 2025; 2026 is the first year with real spare capacity. One data point, worth watching rather than calling a trend yet.

A Voluntary Aided Catholic school (Diocese of Westminster) — its own admission policy gives priority to baptised Catholic children resident in the Ruislip, Eastcote and Harefield parishes ahead of any distance measure, with reserved places for Eastcote (up to 14) and Harefield (up to 6) applicants specifically. Distance is only ever used as a tie-break within a priority group, so it never appears as a published "furthest offered" figure. What the three years do show clearly: spaces open on National Offer Day have shrunk from 6 in 2024 to effectively none by 2025 — worth knowing if you're applying on a non-Catholic or out-of-parish basis, since categories 8–9 (the ones a family outside the three parishes would fall into) have progressively less room each year.

Field End Junior, Newnham Junior and Coteford Junior School aren't shown — they take Year 3 transfers from their linked infant school rather than a Reception intake, so they don't appear in council Reception allocation data.
